Right, this is going to sound silly, but I can't get my head round it.
I was on my dads policy on a Rover 200, 1.1 litre S Reg. Last year, with dads 9+ no claims protected and me with three points, it came to fully comp £600.
Since then, I've clocked up 7 points and am now in the process of regaining my licence (ooops). So the only option for me is 3rd party fire and theft. On my dads policy, him still 9+ years no claims protected, me with 7 points, £1200. I had already come to the conclusion it would be around this figure.
Whats confused me is this. My missus has just booked in for her test. So I decided to try putting me as the owner, and her as a named driver. Would you believe, 3rd party fire and theft, £1202!?!
So why is it only two pound more to insure a car as a 20 year old with 7 points, 1 years NCB with a 18 year old newly passed girl as a named driver than a 49 year old with 0 points, 24 years NCB with a 20 year old with 7 points as a named driver.
Perhaps the site is right. Confused.com!!
