- Driving less/ use public transport - can have the affect of increasing emissions as journeys by public transport are usually longer.

- More efficient energy sources - very easy to say without saying anything at all. What are these energy sources and what is the emissions cost of developing them?

- Developing more efficient car/aeroplane engines - Same as above.

- Recycling all things. Especially aluminium. - Certainly saves resources, but does not reduce emissions. Emissions are increased because, rather than waste being transported and stored, waste is transported, recycled and transported again.

- Planting more trees - No problem.

- Driving at lesser speeds (or, to be reasonable, stick to the limits) - So we go from an efficiency of crap to very very slightly less crap.

All the above have significant implications yet don't even scratch the surface of the emissions reduction required if AGW is true. They don't even come close to offsetting population growth let alone the emissions of developing countries.
