"Tangler, assuming CC does exsist one problem people have which makes them reluctant to give up is that there is someone somewhere thats making money out of it. Theres trillions to be made for worldwide governments right down to (and i know you'll laugh) bus companies."
Well yes, every single major decision always creates someone who wins financially. But that isn't a reason not to do something. If we had another war against someone do you think we should consider the extra business that armour manufacturers get as a legitimate reason not to go to war?
"Just to touch on the point you make about our driving habbits and the idea the government have that driving just 5 miles less a week will help, in a thread a couple of weeks ago i pointed out that my girlfriend lives in the sticks but works in derby city centre, she is all for catching the bus even though she has a nice TT to pose around in, but the bus company is being crafty in not allowing return tickets to be bought before 9am"
That example sounds like a issue you can bring up with your council. It's not like that down where I am, have you actually complained about it to anyone? Driving less will clearly reduce CO2, you can't argue with that surely? Your issue is just with the Bus company.
If we're assuming that CC exists, then you are asking how can we achieve it?
- Driving less/ use public transport - More efficient energy sources - Developing more efficient car/aeroplane engines - Recycling all things. Especially aluminium. - Planting more trees - Driving at lesser speeds (or, to be reasonable, stick to the limits)
Plus anything else you can think of to cut CO2. There are lots of things you can do.
