thats right roadrat your getting the 2 deg gulfstream that usualy sits over scotland at this time of year that is the warm air (reletivly speaking)that we normaly get your warm gulfstream air is probably 700 - 1000 miles south of you diverted southwards by the large high preasure area ( cyclone ) that is centred over scotland just now. the air stream in a cyclone rotates clockwise and so is pulling air in from scandinavia and the baltics.

we usualy have anti cyclonic weather in the UK rotating anti clockwise around an area of low preasure and pulling in a south westerly wind from the gulf stream hence the westerly winds and rain usualy asociated with mild british witers in the past few years.
