...OPPOSITION Party leader .
He was overthrown because he was prepared to support the passing into law a Carbon Trading Scheme , immediately, with little or no parliamentary debate.
That was a purely politically motivated idea to avoid a forced election which he felt would lose him his seat.
Common sense prevailed and democratic debate will now take place on any CTS for Australia.
