I agree. With the exception of the 2 (3 if you count Piquet) that have now gone I would imagine no one or very few knew. I'd be amazed if Alonso knew anything about it. I also wonder if Piquet Snr knew anything about it until his son came home with his P45 and said 'Dad - something I need to tell you...'
So punishing the team when the culprits have run off wouldn't be morally fair in my view. Whether they will strike the win from the record and give it the 2nd place guy remains to be seen.
Clearly Briatorie or Symonds will never work in F1 again but if they're not convicted of anything, then technically they are free agents to do whatever they want - even if that isn't right.
Cheating is cheating and cheating on this scale is unprecented in terms of the incident itself although cheating has gone on before.
