I too remember as a youngster staying up and listening to James Burk describing what was hapening.
the theame tune " song for the comman man " or somthing still sends the hairs on the back of my neck standing up.
I still have a framed picture of Buzz aldrin standing on the moon on my desk.
it was this that inspired me to become a pilot and areobatic instructor years later.
ps
history books have always got it wrong by claiming that Neil Amstrong was the first man to land on the moon, there were two people in the lunar module when it touched down on the moon not just the commander.and another who made it all the way but had to stay in orbit in the capsule and not actualy step out onto the surface. not many people can even remember his name. ( can you without googling it.)
