Lack of 'blues and twos' is a distraction...if the girl had been deaf, the sirens would have no effect. The lights would have been seen too late.
If the car had been going at 40mph, there would have been no death...propbably not even a collision, since the driver may have been able to take evasive action, and the girl would have had more time to see the car approach. Even if there WAS a collision, the results would almost certainly have been less severe.
That last point applies in ALL collisions where high speed is involved. The speed may not be the cause of the impact, but it quite simply exacerbates the severity of it.
How many people on this forum dispute the sense of speed limits on the raod? And how many of those same people would happily accept unlimited speed in the pit lane of their local circuit?
