The problem with MP's salaries is that those that "employ" them have no direct say over how much they get paid. They're all part of the same club so voting against them isn't an option.

What about stating the salary you will demand when you're up for election? That way, the electorate would be wholly responsible in a "you get what you pay for" type of way. In any other job you have to justify your worth. Why not MP's? There are some people I would pay Ł200,000 for running the country, otherwise I wouldn't pay Ł2.
