Hang on a sec, people. I just read the article and the reasoning makes perfect sense from my perspective. There are “A road” dual carriageways in my area that are limited to 50. Off one of these dual carriageways in particular there is a multitude of tiny country lanes, in many places single track, where the “national limit” of 60 applies just because it doesn’t say otherwise. That is a crazy speed on those roads. Last year I gave evidence as witness to a motorcyclist fatality (what else is new?) in which case this very fact was a key aspect. It looks to me as though the proposed legislation simply seeks to remove this anomaly. Quite right. This has nothing to do with the motorway limit: what are you getting worked up about?
