I said I understood your point, I didn't say I'd agreed with it.

And, Tesla cannot get their car to work!

Like Davyboy is saying, no amount of new niche product or superduper technology would allow GM, Ford and Chrysler to survive. There problems are different. And the other car manufacturers don't have those problems to such a degree. They were in trouble way before this economic downturn.

And you still seem to have missed the point of how expensive batteries are.

And you don't understand consumers, no one wants just a city car that can only be driven in the city. They want their city car to be able to tackle motorways and take them to their grannies if necessary. Unfortunately battery technology is not moving at the rate expected. Even computers companies are starting to ditch batteries and head to methanol fuel cells.
