"The REASON why Govt's haven't done enough yet is that there are STILL too many MORONS out there..... Hmmmm, Hmmmm, Hmmmm, I wonder where we should LOOK to find an example!"
If the problem was perceived to be as doom and gloom as you state, it wouldn't be hard to get worldwide consensus on the only action that would help, a wholesale reduction in carbon emissions. We could start by getting both government and opposition in this country to agree to a wholesale reduction. If all parties agree to this action, an election would not be won or lost on this issue.
However, at this stage, we haven't seen either government, opposition, nor Greenpeace (whom will never get elected anyway) suggest such a reduction. At this stage, all the actions government has taken has resulted in increased taxation with very little environmental gain.
Global warming is happening, that cannot be disputed, it is a measurable fact. The cause can be disputed, but even assuming it is wholly manmade, there are only two actions we can conceivably take:
1) A wholesale, worldwide reduction in emmissions. 2) Adapt
I'm going with option 2.
