People are quick to forget that Bourdais was as quick as Vettel throughout the Italian GP. They also forget that Raikkonen outclassed Massa last year and Heidfeld outclassed Kubica. Hamilton and Alonso were level on points last year too. Fisichella has beaten some teammates, but been left behind by others (logic does not dictate whom he beats). Vettel has won one race (but Hamilton's overall pace would have won him the GP, but for rain) with some substandard performances in-between. Timo Glock looks good until Trulli comes on form. Webber looks good but doesn't get results. Button is a match for anybody when he wants to be, which isn't often lately.
We could go on forever. The only thing that really counts is results, and Hamilton is leading the championship with Massa second.
