I hope you can see what a SH*T position we councillors find ourselves in. If we DON'T enforce noise regulations to the LETTER, the facility can get closed down, completely out of our control. Even when we support the use (as we do for our Hall), we are still forced to act on breaches of the noise regulations or lose the facility.
It's a nasty situation to find yourself in.
As a volunteer, I regularly attend late events and have to enforce the noise limits and chuck people out at 'closing time' and I cannot remember a single occasion when I have not been abused for trying to enforce the rules TO WHICH THE HIRER AGREED when they BOOKED the Hall. Someone ALWAYS tells me that we should 'stand up to the noise laws'..... and the result of doing that is:- MALLORY!
