...'once the public begins to notice quite how many unmarked Police cars are patrolling the'...
Ha ha Ian, unmarked cars may as well be painted dayglo yellow - so easy to spot but the fact is for these cars to be patrolling they surely need drivers and like i said before police numbers are dropping.
I wish to know what they class as lane hogging or tailgating? I do about 45/50k a year so i think i get to see lots of examples....i'm probably guilty of some myself sometimes.
Example - I'm driving in the middle lane at 70mph overtaking traffic in lane 1, along comes a BMW driver in lane 3 who as soon as he gets his rear wheels in front of my front bumper pulls in front of me because his exit is 1/3rd of a mile away......suddenly i become a tailgater. You can follow all the advice from police all you like about the 2 second rule and you can count chevrons till your blue in the face the fact remains also that the gap you leave for your safety is there for someone elses convenience, you find yourself constanly easing off and dropping back till your doing 50mph......and now suddenly you become a middle lane hogger...arghhh!!!
