It's simple. Planes fly because air passes over the wing. If no air passes, they are 'buses' and stay on the ground!

On a conveyor belt, so long as the AIR is stationary (and NOT being pulled along by the C.Belt) and the PLANE stills stands over the SAME SPOT compared to the ground (NOT the belt), then it's a BUS and will NOT fly!

The cretins on Mythbusters don't seem to notice that THEIR aircraft is moving compared the GROUND as well as their strip of C.Belt.

Watch the video and you'll see that the marker cones stand still but the plane ACCELERATES away from the cones...... thus it HAS got FORWARD air speed!

Let's guess it's take off speed is 40mph and the car is dragging the belt backward at 40 mph as the plane gets into the air. That means the plane was moving at 40 mph FORWARD, the belt was moving BACKWARD at 40mph and the WHEELS were spinning at EIGHTY mph.

If they's kept the plane ALONGSIDE the cones, then it would NOT have taken off: period!

I knew those two were idiots but I didn't think YOU lot were!

The key thing is that planes don't give a DAMN about how fast the wheels spin, they only care about the AIR SPEED. If the air is stationary compared to the plane....... it's a BUS and it DON'T FLY!!
