Let's try it with yourself.....

I literally don't have a CLUE what you are driving at the moment.... just tell us the car and the engine size, power etc..

For the fun of it, do it with Dad's car and let's consider, for example, Ben's car as well.

Now tell me what you'd do about your car if the fuel went to Ł2.00 per litre.

I know what **I** would do with the Impreza, I'd scrap it: it's not worth anything nowadays anyway! I'd move to a car that's cheaper to run (because I have a brain....). Why don't I do it now? Becasue I have enough money not to worry TOO much about how much the Impreza 'wastes' each time I hit the throttle..... and it wastes a LOT of fuel on full power. However, if fuel went up significantsly, it would hurt too much to run the car AND I'D TRADE DOWN. YES.... I WOULD miss the old beast. The day it finally fails... I'll replace it WITH ANOTHER IMPREZA with even MORE power..... because I can afford the fuel.... but if I COULDN'T....... I'd use the Elisxe more.... it's VASTLY cheaper to run (45mpg) and EVEN QUICKER than the Impreza! The Elise IS light and EFFICIENT at transporting one man to and from clients!

Ok... there are SOME people (a very few) who cannot move down to a cheaper vehicle, e.g., landscape gardner who cannot do WITHOUT a van of XYZ size..... B*U*T 95% of us could E*A*S*I*L*Y drop a car size....

My bet is that even YOU could do so TOO, James.

Just tell us what you now drive and why it NEEDS to be so fuel INefficient!

Remember, I start from the logic that climate change IS substantially man-made BUT THAT NEEDN'T MATTER in THIS conversation! Just IGNORE that argument if you don't believe it: I do NOT need that point to 'win' this one! I also know other things as follows:-

1) I do NOT like the countries and the politicians/princes who SELL us the oil
2) I do NOT like OUR oil companies who are utter B***ARDS
3) We WILL run out of oil soon and thus we have NO CHOICE but to cut our use as there will NOT be enough to go around!
4) I do not like the wars we end up fighting JUST to keep our hands ON the oil
5) I do not like the BEHAVIOUR of the countries with the oil and would prefer to see them sink BACK into the sand when the money runs dry!
6) When I wad a lad a 1600cc motor was a LARGE engines and QUICK car..... today, MUMS are driving their kiddies to school in 5.5 LITRE TANKS! We SHOULD have used our technology to make SMALL engines cars quicker and CHEAPER to run..... not just fill FAT HOPELESS TANKS with more USELESS TAT! You do NOT NEED AIR CONDITIONING IN THE UK!!!!!
7) and so on......
