Your first paragraph is nothing more than word play. The logical extension of what you are suggesting is the statement, "if she wasn't their should wouldn't have died." Again, she was in the car she was in, on the road she was on. The police officer was in the car he was in, on the road he was in. The conditions were the conditions. The only controllable variables in the scope of influence of this collision were the actions of the nurse and the actions of the police officer. Since the nurse was legally stationary, as required by a red light, she could not have done anything differently. The police officer on the other hand, had the ability to select his speed appropriately.

You're responsible for the safe control of your vehicle. All those other "factors" are what you should be driving according to.

Just answer two questions:

1) What should the nurse have done differently?
2) What should the police officer have done differntly?

The answers to those two questions will point you in the direction of the cause of the accident. PaulM has already stated the police office should have driven more slowly.

"Speed was not the sole cause of that accident, it was a factor - you said yourself "it's NOT the conditions which kill: it's the DRIVER!"
and "Speed DOES KILL and it WAS the S*O*L*E cause in THIS case!"
Make your mind up, which is it - the driver or the speed?
Or is it a combination?"

The last time I checked vehicles don't drive themselves. Driver chooses speed, speed kills woman. Pretty simple really.
