Look I love F1 a much as the next racing fanatic but the current F1 car shape and design to me is just horrible and long past its sell by date.
I don't like the high noses, oversized front wings and why on earth are the front and rear tyres virtually the same size. So uncool!
If you look at a current F1 from an angle of 45 degrees you can barely see the driver's head above the tractor size front tyres which must take for ever to make a full revolution.
Racers of old if they weren't carefull could cook their tyres after just a few laps but the current tyres can virtually do a full grand prix. Good for the tyre company's reputation but hardly pushing the limits of what is supposed to be the pinnacle for speed and excitment.
I can't wait to see the new car devised for the FIA by Patrick Head. Yes there will be much smaller engines but they are going to allow proper ground effect which I believe will make the driver more important. Hopefully they will do away with pitch sensitive large wings altogether. These have killed overtaking and have allowed too many average drivers the pleasure of putting in a respectable lap time in a F1 car.
I remember when the Lotus 79 came out (the first true ground effect car) and people back then said it went round like it was on rails. Yet when you look back at the old videos you can see Peterson driving his balls off and four wheel drifting the 79 at 140mph. Magic!
If the FIA allow this car to happen then F1 teams will need a lot more Lewis Hamiltons which hopefully means more opportunities for British karting talent!
