its funny, i know everyone complains about 4x4's on the road but its amazing what they can actually do in this weather. we bought our landrover a couple of years back, recently we got a letter offering us a free off road training day the other day from landrover, went on it yesterday in all the snow...absolutely incredible machines when used properly...6 inches of snow, icy hills, deep ruts, 45 degree inclines and steep hills, we all got to drive for about an hour on the off roading course and on the road, and never got stuck once!!....best thing was we were on standard road tyres and the car was standard straight from the factory. the hill decent control, traction control and abs are amazing....never driven a car that brakes fromn 40mph dead straight in the snow and stops easily, traction control is really cool cos its got different settings for different conditions and will only give as much power to the wheels as necessary even if you plant the throttle....brilliant cars, but like any tool youve got to know how to use it properly otherwise youl end up in the ditch like everyone else
