It depends on the netbook. If you can get at the disk (i.e., to replace it) then it's pretty simple to remove it, mount in an 'empty' 'external case' (most computer web sites sell them) and then plug that into another PC and read it from that.

Be careful though, you may invalidate the warranty if you break any seals and/or scratch and/or otherwise damage the Netbook while removing the disk.

It is possible to boot the PC from CD, DVD or memory stick.... you need to know how to do that but it IS possible. That, of course, depends on whether your netbook has DVD/CD, etc..

It's also possible to repair the faulty boot track but that, again, depends on whether the netbook has CD, DVD slot etc..

However, if you send-back the Netbook, then you can GUARNATEE that the company will simply re-install over your hard disk and all data will be (effectively) lost! They'll usually tell you they couldn't save the pictures/data..... as if!

In reality, it depends on how important the photos are. If you MUST keep them, then it CAN be done. If you simply prefer to keep them, then only you can decide if it's worth the tiny/medium/severe hassle.

I had one client who had been working on a 5 BILLION pound 'quotation' for an 'Arabian' railway when he damaged the disk on his lap-top. He HAD to salvage that data! There are a number of companies who will strip and rebuild the disks into new cases and extract that data. That cost the client two thousand pounds..... but it was worth it!

Finally, if the photos were off a camera and you deleted the photos from that 'card' and have NOT photographed over them since, then you may be able to get them back off that card. 'Delete' does not always mean what it seems to mean! Look on the web for instructions how to do that.
