The parcticalities of THAT scheme are better then the RFID approach. However..... the term 'big brother' looms to large over THAT system.

By definition, that would carry a way of placing EXACTLY where your car is every second of the day (yes I KNOW that your mobile phone does that already....... but you WANT a mobile phone and the public doesn't THINK about it's implications)...

Tell me/us how you SELL that to the general public! Imaging selling THAT to the FRENCH!!! That is LAUGHABLE!

I can tell you that the option is NOT cheap and it CAN be defeated very easily. You can work out wasy for defeating the GPS sensor yourself in the car.... if you think about it. It's also STAGGERINGLY easy to disconnect it from the car...... or to 'mis-deliver' at GPS signal to it.

Let's assume you can make it work.... and let's assume you can make it LEGAL..... Do you know how EASY it is to jam ALL the GPS systems in a wide area (say, radius of 1 mile)? My son flys for the RAF and they only use GPS as a back-up system, they do NOT rely upon it for exactly THAT reason. A visit to Maplins and about 1hr build time and you have a jammer!

Let's now say someone triggers one in YOUR area. What is YOUR car supposed to do? Will it just revert to unlimited speed? If it does, then EVERY car will be fitted with a Jammer the day after they have your system fitted!

It'll be TOO EASY to b*gg*r ANY 'fines system' by FLOODING them with WRONG fines, the user merely triggers the Jammer.... and then speeds as MUCH as he wasn't as EVERY car in the region will be 'reported' by the system and HE can claim that he was ALSO not speeding!

This stuff is NOT easy!
