As a race car they are technically inferior to almost any other single-seater out there.

As Aquila says, they're certainly not for those aiming to be a racing driver. They are cheap and they can provide good racing. It all depends what you're looking for. I'll never knock anyone for getting out racing in whatever they choose, but I'm more than happy to voice my opinion that they're an abomination to race car design (they're VW parts on a single-seater spaceframe).
