The Dakar Rally doesn't have as many deaths as the TT. Its not a certainty that somebody will die each time the event is run... but its not far off it. The death rate is ridiculously too high and I believe it should not continue in its current format.

Likewise F1 in the 1970s did not result in the death of a competitor or spectator every weekend, nevertheless the death rate was unacceptably high. If people like Jackie Stewart had not reacted to the situation and dramatically mitigated the risk, we would not have F1 today.

As an aside the Isle of Man was removed from the Grand Prix calendar as far back as 1977 because the risks were judged to have been far too great.
