Dave, you're missing something.
For every super-rich person, there's 1000 rich people and 100,000 ordinary people (the figures are VERY loose but you get the idea). There simply are not ENOUGH Super-Rich or just RICH people to make a difference to the REAL 'tax take'. If you take another £1,000,000 off the super rich... they'll leave (as both of US would...) so you'll only get that million ONCE.... but you'll LOOSE all the money from them and their staff NEXT year as they'll take their business with them.
However, if you take £100,000 off the super rich and TEN QUID EACH off the ordinary people.... you'll get MORE ..... but you'll get it EVERY YEAR....AND you'll KEEP the super-rich AND the Jobs they bring!
Taxing the rich just DOESN'T work..... ask Harold Wilson, Dennis Heally and Jim Callaghan (oops....two are dead!). They tried and it was a DISASTER......!
There is NO choice but to tax the ORDINARY.... after all, the biggest SINGLE slice has gone into the national health system and state schools which ARE used by the ordinary and NOT by the Super Rich!
Mr Ordinary got the 'benefits' and he VOTED for it..... so he's going to have to PAY for it!
