What was "crass" about it? Labour has added hundreds of thousands (if not millions) of public-sector jobs that weren't there before and are not needed, and we've also got a benefits system that has been abused to the point of collapse.
There are far too many people in this country who are taking from the taxpayer in one form or another. It isn't sustainable - and that's a fact. Ten years ago when the country was doing well, it could (just about) afford Labours' spending-spree, but those days are long gone. More is being taken out than is being put back in, and it's "crass" to ignore it and throw "class-war" type accusations.
As the saying goes; "Socialism works well until they run out of other people's money".
