Ian, you are probably right about the Ox/Cam/Harvard comparison but I suspect people like that are marked long before they get to Oxford or Cambridge.
I do not understand your comment about the person on the radio - surely the whole point of her reply is that the current incumbents have pi$$ed her off so much by not listening that she is willing to vote anything other than the norm. Perhaps we forget that, whatever our beliefs or intellect, in a democracy you have the right to vote for whoever you like and for whatever reason (or not vote at all). Those elected are supposed to do what their voters want, having first protected them, that is their true raison d'etre. The winner today will probably only represent 22% of the electorate at most, and excluding or ignoring any voter for any reason is simply playing into the hands of the 'political class'.
