They USED to advertise that they ONLY built RWD cars..... and then produced the ABORTIONS of the Xs.
We also all know that they used to make their cars PROPERLY biased somehere between 'neutral' and 'oversteer' but, as 90% of the public can't handle oversteer and are scared by it .... they have moved VIOLENTLY towards UNDERSTEER ... (unless using excess power to over-ride this). That makes them handle VERY much like well set-up FWD cars!
Their claim about 'handling purity' is sounding increasingly hollow.
And..... if it comes to the crunch... who WOULDN'T prefer to have one the the REAL 'S' Audis to ANY of the 'M's?
Back in the 1980s, Audi ran a BRILLIANT advert which captured the Audi-BMW battle PERFECTLY! They had a nasty little Yuppie with loud braces, striped shirt and an early mobile phone; test driving an Audi. At the end of his loud-mouth behaviour and bad driving, he states: 'Nah.... this car dun't really suit me style!'... to which the more intelligent dealer replies... "Quite so, sir!"
To which I have to say 'Quite so Sir', too!
