Rich, i've read most of below and most of it is a fact of life, theres not much you can about it so it looks like you'll have to pay through the nose till yor 25, i remember when i was 24, i had a G reg cavalier sri, £850 tpft and when i turn 25 it was £263 comp.
My first 3 cars after passing my test were RS's, classics now and werent far off then, have you considered a classic on a limited mileage policy, doesnt have to be an RS, i mean itpro hates them so your not allowed to like them, hey soon he'll be telling which class we should all race in lol!
A classic car would still get you about, it wouldnt be fast but thats the whole point, you'd pay cheaper insurance while your mates are skint because of theirs, you'll have fun and learn at the same time fixing it at weekends instead of paying £50 ph having a management light turned when you put your induction kit on and the ECU didnt like it. Im 40 and im still on the look out for a classic RS
