most people on here have driven karts and know what a 'skid' is. For so many people the first time they experience a skid is just 1/2 second before the crash. Then they usuaslly blame something else other than themselves and excess speed.
Cars with limited performance would be good. I learnt on the Mogi 1000 and 850 Mini. Both max speed 68. My children learnt in a Fiesta 1100L. Bottom of the range engine size wise, 5 speed and still able to comfortably exceed 100 mph.
However there is little on the roads less safe than those 50cc restricted to 30 mph motor scooters. Even worse than cyclists.
Manufactures just don't make slow cars today. Just no demand. However if it was a requirement that new/young drivers must only drive cars of realistic restricted performance (max 70 mph and 0 to 60 in 15 seconds plus) they would appear. The 70 MPG would be another attraction and possibly lower insurance premiums.
One can go on and on. Won't happen as there does not appear to be the political will.
