That's TOO easy.... it was a concept invented by a SOCIALIST Govt.... and it was initially called the 'Social Security System'.... designed and STILL 'performing'.... on EXACTLY on the lines you were saying! Expecting a FUTURE generation to pay for the PREVIOUS one.
It's also why MANY of US do N*O*T have such pension schemes! We had to W*O*R*K for our future retirement money!
But... of course, being young.... you have failed to NOTICE the VASTLY worse side still to come! The cretins YOU (the young) elected created the MAGNIFICANT PFI concept where you buy hospitals today and expect the NEXT generation to pay for them! You ALSO voted in the CRETINS who have got us into an £895,000,000,000 deficit...becasue you wanted TODAY what you CAN NOT AFFORD and expect the NEXT generation to PAY for it! The Pensions 'hole' is MINUTE in its effects in comparison to THOSE two!
Remember, (generalising) it's MY generation who voted for the TORIES and the YOUNG (and stupid) who voted LABOUR!!
