None of us know enough top answer those questions. You have to learn it through experience and thought.

However, wqhy not start the 'best' way?

Post a note on here with the title 'Newbie needs intro at Warden Law'. Put in the body of the posing your age and the weekends taht you would be able to get to Warden Law. Someone will then invite you to the track for the next race meeting.

The idea is that you help and listen, push and clean, carry and fetch, get the bacon sarnies and coffees and learn about racing. You'll meet more than one 'family' and see a HUGE amount about karts in their natural environmnet, a RACE meeting.

If you are polite and helpful, you will have made some friedns and can then attend a few more race meetings (ideally, at least 3) and then you will know aw LOT of people and quite a bit about racing.

That's when you can decide WHICH class you fancy and can AFFORD or what it is that you expect to be doing in karting. If you can't afford the money or time it requires, you can always get involved in the organisation side of racing and you will be welcomed, with open ARMS, into helping, marshaling, scoring, admin, etc. etc.,.
