Having had a 'proper gander' at the BBC all my life I can certainly say that they arguably the best broadcaster in the world. Sure they take a point of view on some issues and I find that very irritating - their support for human induced global warming being a particular bug bear - but by and large the content they produce is good.
That's not the point though. They are operating in a commercial marketplace, but funded by a compulsory 'tax'... and funded much better than anyone else there. You can't draw a comparison against Sky's content because Sky is not funded by a compulsory subscription.
I hope that when the Tory's get in, they'll introduce much needed reform for the BBC, cut or better still, eliminate the licence fee and give Mark Thompson a proper restructuring challenge to get the better of for his GBP700K salary.
