It's time we cleared this up.

Everybody KEEPS blaming Senna for the 1990 incident where he DELIBERATELY rammed Prost off the first corner. Obviously, it WAS cheating: no doubt about it. However, 99.9% of people keep suggesting that Senna STARTED this behaviour between the two of them..... he did NOT!

Alain has always been portrayed as the 'nice guy' and Ayrton as the nutter but.....

Watch the 1988 incident CLOSELY and you'll see that Prost makes a planned and DELIBERATE ramming into Ayrton when he can see that Ayrton IS going to get bye. You can clearly see it in the the video. If Ayrton's car had NOT been 'up the inside' then the angle that Prost takes INTO the corner would have put Prost across the GRASS! Prost is NOT making an attempt to turn into the corner, he is DELIBERATELY RAMMING AYRTON.

And Ayrton KNEW this..... he saw what Prost did and coldly decided that he would do EXACTLY the same the NEXT year....... and he did it!

OK.... Prost did it as a 'sensible speed' where neither were likely to get hurt ....... Ayrton did it at INSANE speeds where there was a good chance that they BOTH would be injured or DIE...... along with the possibility of other drivers, marshals and even spectators. That clearly places Ayrton in the totally BONKERS brigade...... but....

For me, I can understand Ayrton's wish to RETALIATE more than I can understand Prost's COLD BLOODED ATTACK.

You can see ALL of Prost's actions in this video: the incident occurs 25 seconds into the video. Simply imagine that Ayrton is NOT there and follow the line that Prost WOULD have taken! This is not 'jumping a kerb': this is RALLY CROSS!

It's actually an EXCELLENT piece of video: no commentary and VERY detailed video. It shows the exterior view of the incident and the cockpit view.

If you think that Michael was a cheat (and I do!) for raming Hill and Villeneauve, then you have NO option but to call Alain Prost a cheat, too, for the IDENTICAL incident in 1989! Ayrton was ONLY retaliating!....... in a TOTALLY BONKERS way!
