A friend of mine died of asbestosis over Christmas and it just got me thinking. The thing is, at the time I was doing the filing, I was aware of asbestosis because of Steve McQueen's death in 1980. I was fairly sure that the pads I was filing were asbestos-free, the packaging didn't contain any warnings etc... I don't even remember any reference to the word asbestos on it because I was looking for it. Its years later that people were saying to me that asbestos was so pervasive people it wasn't mentioned on packaging.

If you've ever ridden The Tube in London... as I did also for years... you're breathing in huge amounts of brake dust... every station stinks of the stuff. If that's laced with asbestos as well, then gazillions of people will have breathed it in.
