Go on to www.parkers.co.uk and look in used cars then look for readers reviews. Read as many as possible for the vehicle you are interested in, it shows up any common faults with that vehicle - e.g. head gasket problems.
If you can, I would get a professional opinion on the car you are buying by getting an AA or RAC car check done.
