I thought I'd put this one out to the learned legal bods on here :)
on the way back from sunday's club meeting at dunks, I was rear ended by a young driver who just wasn't paying attention.
he smashed into the back of the trailer I was towing at about 35 mph, probably writing off the trailer, and quite possibly damaging the karts inside - it was quite an impact - plus destroying the towbar assembly on my van, wrecking the bumper and rear tailgate. I've also got a nice dose of whiplash (as diagnosed by my gp).
I called my insurance company and kicked off the claim, they agree the third party is 100% at fault.
the third partys' insurers also agree - they've just called admiting their client is at fault, and they're offering to sort everything.
is this normal practice? should I give them authorisation to handle everything, or should I get a claims handling company on board? I'm looking to claim for the damage to the van, the possibly written off trailer, the damage to the karts, the day off work I had to take due to neck pain, and the whiplash.
has anyone else got any experience of this?
ta :)
