I think we all know how little the driver actually counts anymore (relatively speaking of course). Especially now the commentators big up the 'massive G's' etc. It's clear that it's coming down more and more to fitness and endurance rather than driving skills. Won't be long before the drug cheating malaise effecting so many other sports reaches motorsport.

I liked to think that the drivers doing well on the day, had earned that by their contribution to getting the car sorted and set up. But with testing bans that's even less likely now.
