This is actually pretty tedious. When people can start paying attention to the machinations of F1 rather than reading spurious headlines we might get somewhere.

1) The power of veto existed for all teams within the F1 Commission. The F1 Commission was formed of the governing body, the commercial rights holder, 5 x race promoters and 6 x teams (one from each competing country where possible). I think it also used to consist of a tyre supplier and major sponsor too.

2) The veto can only be used when the rules are set for the next season and only within a very specific time period.

3) Any special privileges granted to Ferrari (extra money for instance) were transparent and agreed by all teams and were signed by all teams as part of the Concorde Agreement.

4) The existing Concorde Agreement expired in 2007. Ferrari were the only team to resign the agreement (Williams may have done, it's not clear) and therefore keep their power of veto. It is this veto that they are trying to enforce.

5) Luca Di Montezemolo (FIAT boss) was made chief of FOTA by agreement from ALL teams. The teams have never been more united. They are obviously happy with the Ferrari situation.

6) Williams used the same power of veto to stop Prodrive's entry a few years ago.

etc. etc. ad infinitum.
