Brian, i am not an expert, but a few comments for consideration. * very impressive specification ..1000 fps HS movie , 40 fps continuous stills, etc etc * shutter speed at up to 1/40,000th and optical zoom to 520 mm would certainly get you close to those "eyeballs", but much will depend on the lens quality which you cannot tell without seeing test shots, and i dont think you can change lens's on that camera if you want to upgrade. ( that is where Nikon's and Canon etc, have an advantage) Whilst the HS movie feature could be very interesting, it is slightly disapointing that this camera does not feature full 1080p HD video which is becoming common on new camera's. But maybe video is not of interest to you ? Battery capacity at 230 -400 shots seems light ...( does that mean only 6 sec's at 40 fps ??) .. but the use of AA type cells is an advantage there. I would find a photo shop that will loan you one to try , or at the very least read all the reviews. final comment... any "serious" motorsport photography really requires a camera with interchangeable lens's . !
