We won't argue on some of those points but they are NOT the key ones, just 'points along the way'.... but how many people do YOU know who run ANYTHING the size that the MPs supposedly run for the sort of money THEY are (officially) paid!
In truth, almost NONE of them apply for the job becasue of the MONEY! With the hours they put in, many, if not MOST, could get REALLY well paid jobs with MUCH more secure tenure... It's NOT the money that does it.... it's the POWER (and damned all of THAT, either!)
Look at something like a simple council chief officer, or the 'CEO' of a health trust!
The key test is MUCH more simple.... How do you SUGGEST we get BETTER MPs if we pay them LESS?
Unlike the top job at ANY other 'business' YOU (and Devon) have the option of actually GETTING the job if you think you can do BETTER! All you have to do is PERDSUADE us you'll be BETTER at the job! It's EASY... there's no qualfications, no colour, race, gender, sex orientation bias.... just TELL us what yoy stand for and GO for it....
So.... why HAVEN'T you?
