--- Err, but ALL areas need some form of protection. Or are there some magic roads that I'm unaware of, where it is impossible to have any kind of accident?

---Yes, that is why the limit is set to 70. If the goverment were truely safety crazy they might adopt the once American 55mph speed limit, or maybe less. At 70 the risks are **already** high, you can't just make those risks higher for everyone purely because you feel like it.

--- Well, if you're telling us you're unable to control your speed without looking at your speedo every 5 seconds why don't you try going a bit slower, giving yourself a bit more breathing space between your speed and the limit. Thus you wouldn't need to look at your speedo as much, it's not rocket science surely?
