I would like to throw in the theory that the current trend for constantly changing speed limits, could actually be causing more accidents than preventing them.
I know I spend far too much time now, unavoidably, watching my speedo. Rather than fully concentrating on what is happening out on the road.
Driving big distances in a country (France) where the change, from virtually no speed checks to huge levels of covert and overt speed controls, has happened virtually overnight, you really notice how it changes your driving, and not nessasarily for the better.
Certain speed limits almost seem designed to trick people into speeding and stangely enough that's where you often find the 'Flics' in the bushes with 'scrim' netting over the tripod.
