Again, thanks for the suggestions but it was the action of 'locking' the Mac/PC to the wireless, not the action of making a contact with the service provider. All the other users (on PCS) were already 'active' in their 'conversations' with the ISP supply (i.e., the internet).

The Mac simply refused to CONSIDER allowing the contact with the 'access point' until I gave it a password... which it didn't need ..... and when I DID give it a 'fictitious' password, it confirmed that the password had not worked.
