"I didn't say how many of those accidents were my own fault!" - No, you haven't but you also haven't said how many WEREN'T your fault, which no doubt you would have told us already if you were completely innocent - Which leaves us all to believe at least some of them WERE your fault. Very rarely is a car accident 100% someones fault, if you'd ever been on an ‘advanced drivers’ course you'd realise part of driving is being able to avoid other people's accidents. If you see an idiot driving recklessly, you get out of their way and keep your car safe...you don't ignore them, have an accident and then blame them entirely.
"On one particular of my accidents the person in question was in distress caused by the desperation to reach a hospital in time in order to catch the birth of his first son!" - Right, so if you were travelling 10 or 20 mph faster you wouldn't have needed to take him to hospital to see his son...because you'd might have killed him. So you see, speed kept low means less chance of injury. Makes sense, yes?
"It has forever been drummed-up that SPEED in itself doesn't cause accidents!" - Does it even matter? People don't actually give a stuff why an accident happened, they care about what happens during and after the crash. If a member of your family was involved in a crash, would you care more about what caused the crash or about how 'dead or not' they were? Because speed would determine whether your family are 'dead or not'
Lower speed = Lower force in an accident = More chance of surviving!!!
"I'm definitely no authority in driving, but I class myself in a small minority of people with a lot of driving experience" - A bad experience it seems. I certainly wouldn't trust you to know what is a safe speed and what isn't...which is a perfect illustration as to why the Government decides the speed limit and doesn't let drivers like you decide for themselves. It is drivers like you this law was designed for, those who think they are more capable than they really are.
