"What I was saying was that at higher speeds you'll be concentrating on the driving alone rather than the stuff you don't need to concern yourself with! Tunnel vision concentrates the mind!" - You're still admitting that you don't concentrate on what you should be concentrating on whilst driving at low speeds. That means you're a bad driver. You should always be concentrating on what’s around you on the road, whatever the speed.
"When you're travelling on the motorway at 70mph (legal speed btw) what do you think is your speed relative to the street furniture? CLOSING SPEED OF 70mph!" - Yep, that is entirely true. That’s why they don't place road signs in the middle of the road!!!
"Put it this way, if anyone drives at 90mph in a zone where he cannot see 40mtrs ahead he/she should be committed not banned!" - If an accident happened 40metres ahead, you could be in the right hand lane about to overtake a person in the left hand lane 40metres ahead when they have a tyre blowout. You'd see it fine, but would you be fine after that? I'd be interested to know the situation that you'd regard it safe enough to drive at 90mph.
"It is worrying, yes! Statistically it is proven most accidents happen within 5mls from home or work. As for my own proof... all my 5 accidents happened on roads I frequented regularly and at below 40mph! I do on average around 38000mls/year and my car computer tells me my average speed is 37mph! - I meant it was worrying for you personally, and you've done nothing to allay those worries. The mere fact you've had FIVE accidents proves you aren't quite as 'comfortable' on the road as you think you are. Now, assuming you were travelling the speed limit for these accidents...how more serious would they have been if you travelled just 10mph faster? What about 20mph faster?
