I really don't see an argument here. It's not difficult to stick to speed limits and 70 mph is adequate for motorways. Admittedly some roads maybe innapropiately signed but generally speed limits are fine. Learn to stick to them and your journey will be far more enjoyable.

And the faster you go the damage caused in an accident is greater and also the time available to react to something going wrong is reduced.
