I would seriously consider asking them to check their calc's on what you are saying.

If they say it is correct ask them to confirm that in writing and stating you asked for a check to be carried out.

At least that way next April when they find the error of their ways you can wag it under their noses and say "Look you said it was correct twice, so can I repay it over 2 years instead of one please?"

Be careful, just had a quick straw poll and nobody I work with who is in receipt of that sort of Tax credit,is earning anywhere near your combined wage.
