KERS = Kinetic Energy Recovery System.

The principal is it will be a device that can store the energy created under braking to be used later in the lap for a maximum of 8 seconds. Understand drivers will have buttons to decide when they release the energy e.g. for a power increase to aid overtaking.

How they work is very secret but it would appear most involve converting the braking energy into electricity.
