The funniest I saw was when being shown by the H&S rep (nebosh blah blah qualified etc)how an accident had occurred on the previous shift. (The operator whilst bored had pushed his finger into a hole on a cap over a bearing on a moving conveyor) The rep did the exact same thing when showing me and lost the end of his finger, I nearly died laughing at the dozy idiot whilst picking up the end of his finger and stemming the blood flow, he claimed and got a big payout!!!
People do the stupidest and most idiotic things when trying to save time or cut corners and save money, thats one of the main reasons for H&S to prevent this. But sometimes they go way overboard for somethings and end up causing accidents when people try and do the job and get frustrated by the draconian rules and end up taking short cuts. Catch 22 sometimes
